SpaceX and the Year
of the Dragon

In an ironic twist of fate SpaceX is starting off the Chinese year of the Dragon, with the first light. The Chinese new year started on January 23, 2012 with preparing its second Dragon space craft for a trip to the International Space Station. Scheduled for launch on February 7 2012 Dragon will be to the first private spacecraft to visit the orbiting out post.

The Dragon space craft is also currently the only spacecraft capable of returning stuff to Earth from ISS other than crew and if all goes well in a few years it will be capable of taking seven people to and from ISS and other orbital destinations. It is also designed to be reusable. SpaceX's  Dragon / Falcon 9 will most likely  be the next U.S. spacecraft to carry American Astronauts in to low Earth Orbit.
