While Astronomy is ancient it was largely related to Astrology, it was limited to unaided eye studying of the sky. It largely involved observing and recording the apparent positions and motions of the sun, Moon, stars and planets. The invention of the telescope increased knowledge about the sun, Moon, stars and planets.
