The Grand Canyon

The Grand Canyon is probably the most famous geographical locations in the United States. Located in Arizona, it is carved through many layers of rock. While most of the fossils are invertebrates there are the footprints of  vertebrates found in the Coconino Sandstone.

These footprints consists of  some 82 fossilized vertebrate track ways. A comparison with track ways of living amphibians and reptiles showed that the fossil tracks must have been made underwater. The fossilized track ways imply that the animals were entirely under water. They were walking up slope, and against the current in an attempt to clime out of the water. This is entirely constant with a global Flood. It could also be that the tracks are post flood, made during a local flood possibly but not necessary the one that carved the Grand Canyon

There are also dune like mounds called sand waves. Evolutionists claimed that these are sand dunes. They then use the layers as evidence that they are millions of years old, but it turns out that sand waves can produce cross beds in layers of sand under water. Water currents move over the sand surface building up mounds of sand. These sand waves have been observed, on certain parts of the ocean floor and in rivers.

Interbedding also shows that the layers were formed at the same time. It shows hat the layers formed quickly.

Carving the Grand Canyon.

It has been claimed by uniformitarian geologists that the Colorado River caved the Grand Canyon by millions of years of slow erosion. One problem with this idea is that the Colorado River is a meandering river. It follows an erratic course that does not precisely match the canyon. Furthermore for the Colorado River to have carved the canyon it would have had to shift its course numerous times, yet there is no evidence of these past river beds. If you look closely at the above image you can see numerous dried up drainage channels. But they are all draining into the canyon, and not flowing through it.

The drainage channels and the lack of old river beds, shows up even clearer in this higher resolution image of a part of the canyon. This is totally consistent with the Grand Canyon being carved by massive flooding, but it is not consistent with a canyon carved by a river. The Grand Canyon was most likely carved by 2 post Flood lakes over flowing. The Flood would have left numerous lakes brim filled with water When these lakes eventually over flowed, they dumping a lot of water, such a massive amount of water could have carved the Grand Canyon in weeks. Such catastrophic canyon carving was demonstrated at Mt. St. Helens.
